On Feb. 3, 2021, in the town of Stara Zagora, two petitions of citizens with voting rights with a permanent or current address on the territory of the Municipality of Stara Zagora were presented to the office of the Municipality of Stara Zagora.
The petitions, signed by nearly 100 people, call for the following:
The Plan for Integrated Development of the Municipality of Stara Zagora should include the construction of social housing for socially disadvantaged citizens, by applying to the EU Funds, by financing from the national budget and through the budget of the Municipality.

In order to expand the legal access to quality water, electricity and sewerage in the marginalized neighborhoods, with concentration of poverty in the Municipality of Stara Zagora through the budget of the Municipality for 2021, as well as through funding from the national budget and by applying to EU Funds to funds to budget funds for the following:
1. Regulation of municipal plots located next to the Lozenets neighborhood, in order to sell them to interested candidates for construction of houses.
2. Construction of the necessary street and other infrastructure for the new land plots under item 1
3. Repair and maintenance of the existing infrastructure in Lozenets
The signatures were handed over to Mrs. Ivanka Sotirova – Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Stara Zagora and to Mrs. Maria Dineva - Chairman of the Municipal Council, Stara Zagora. The meeting was attended by representatives of the initiative groups.
The local civic initiatives that initiated the petitions were formed in connection with the implementation of project "Advocacy campaign for social housing and housing plots in the municipalities of Stara Zagora, Plovdiv and Maritsa."It is implemented by the Community Donation Fund - Stara Zagora in partnership with NGO "World Without Borders" and the "Institute for Urban Development", Plovdiv, with the financial support of Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway under the EEA Financial Mechanism.
