A press conference for journalists was held on February 26, 2020 at the BTA Club. The topic was the conference held on February 25, 2020 in Stara Zagora "New Housing Policy" held on February 25, 2020 in Stara Zagora with the subtitle "The need to change local policies for social housing and housing plots in the municipalities of Stara Zagora, Plovdiv and Maritsa"
The conference was attended by representatives of the Municipality of Stara Zagora, the district administration, members of NGOs and citizens. At the beginning, the lecturers presented the housing situation in the municipalities of Stara Zagora, Plovdiv and Maritsa. Examples from Europe and the world were also given. There are no municipal dwellings in the municipality of Maritsa, in the municipality of Plovdiv there are 3679, and as of January - 3421 are occupied. Plovdiv Municipality plans to build 74 social housing.
The people present expressed the opinion that the municipality of Stara Zagora can be given as an example. It has both municipal (634) and social housing, as well as land that can be purchased or obtained the right to build on. Of these plots - 273 plots (Regulated plot, 250-350 sq.m) are located in Lozenets, and 48 plots in Kolyo Ganchev. In Stara Zagora there is a tendency to reduce the number of those wishing to apply for municipal housing.
